Logic Gear GPS units with their finger-friendly touch screens are totally simple to use. It only takes a couple of taps on the screen to enter your destination address and confirm - then your GPS immediately calculates your best route, and brings the easy-to-read map up on the screen. The supporting clear, concise voice instructions start immediately.

If you're new to GPS there are a couple of things you need to know:

1.  Your GPS won't work inside. It has to be able to communicate with some of the 28 satellites whirling overhead to establish exactly where it is, so it can then tell you where to go.

To get satellite connection -  take it outside - it will tell you when it has connection because the Find & Go screen colour will go GREEN, and the satellite icon will be BLACK.

(Think of it as your GPS always needs to get a suntan to work - which is pretty hard      if it's sitting on the kitchen table).

2. You never have to key in the address where you are - only the address of the place you want to go to. Your GPS will do the rest.

As long as your GPS has satellite connection, it will always know where you are (even if you don't).

3. You don't set the time in your GPS - your GPS does, using information it gets constantly from all those satellites. But you do have to set your GMT Time Zone - which you do inside the GPS Settings - not in the main Menu - and remember to change your time zone if you go from eg Sydney to Perth or London and want the right local time.

4. Remember to take your GPS inside and charge it using the home charger overnight occasionally. Your GPS runs on a mobile phone battery - so short charges whle travelling won't fully charge it because it is a pretty heavy power user.

5. If you haven't used your GPS for a while, and (after you've charged it) it won't turn on - do a hard reset. Even after you turn your unit off, it still does a trickle charge to keep the volatile memory going. But when this runs out, it loses the refence on hpw to start uup. Factory reset takes the setting abck to original device settings so it knows what to do.

Logic Gear GPS units use the latest Sensis Whereis  Deluxe Australian maps . In Australia, you can buy overseas maps online.  The XL488, XL380, SL350D and SL350F's with upgraded software include an anti-theft security PIN number.
