Introducing the COCKPIT Screen - it always displays your road aheadWhen you enter your new destination address via Find & Go from the Main GPS Menu, your Logic Gear GPS will open in the Cockpit screen. The Cockpit Screen view represent the road ahead as you see it through the windscreen. You can also put in a new Destination directly from the Cockpit view - you don't have to back to Find & Go - but inputting a new address involves one more step - it is explained below. You can also add VIA points once you've set your final destination. It presents the map as you see it when you are sitting in the driver's seat and looking out the front windscreen at the road ahead. When you have satellite connection, that Blue Arrow is you at your current location. (Of course, if you don't have satellite connection the screen will show a little flag flapping at your destination address - until you have satellite connection, your GPS can't work out exactly where it is so it can't tell you where to go). When you are driving, the road is always in front of you no matter how many turns you make - the map moves around your location and direction. So, unlike with the traditional printed Maps and Street Directories which are printed North-facing (ie with North always at the top of the page) you don't have to keep swivelling your GPS around to work out exactly where you are - a street that you need to run left into always shows as on your left, not pointing down or off into a corner. It's very handy for some of us who don't have a north-facing map brain and end up with our old Street Directories sitting at all sorts of crazy angles. Your next manouvre - turn left, turn right, etc shows in the circle in the top RH corner. You will note that at roundabouts, it show the exit number not a turn. 95% of the time, if it shows the second exit (and the voice tells you to take the second exit) it means 'go through the roundabout and continue straight ahead. The distance to your next manouvre shows under the indicator circle. Beneath the indicator circle shows the Settings you have set in your Display Options (Settings/Advanced Settings/Display Options) eg Distance to Destination, Arrival Time, Speed etc Tap Menu/Find to bring up the screen that lets you key in your next Destination - Address (to fill in a new address as usual) - History ( places you have already been to with addresses already in memory) - just tap one to use it for your new destination - no keying in suburb/street/number - Coordinate - this lets you put in a destination using its Latitude and Longitude - POI - search for a POI and input as your destination - Home - tap it and it inputs your home address as your new destination - no keying in suburb/street/number - Work - tap it and it automatically puts your work address in as your new destination Tap Menu/Quick to - set your maps for 3D Map & Zoom, Tilt and Popup Info (additional settings to those you've organisedf under Settings/Advanced) - permanently set your screen to Night Colours - turn this on and you'll always have a BLACK screen (not recommended) - Manage POI's - to set your My POI Categories so you can file and manage your own POIs - Manage Track Logs - to run on and manage your Track Logs Tap Menu/Route to (once you've confirmed a destination) - recalculate your Route - delete your Route - check your Route Itinerary - do a Flyover of your route - edit your route - get more Info on your planned route, fit the whole trip on one screen, etc To set a new destination from within Cockpit View: 1. tap Menu 2. tap Address 3. either select from Recent Towns or tap Other Town and key in your new town or suburb 4. enter the Street Name 5. enter the street number when the map appears and while it is calculating 6. tap Route To to confirm your new destination To add a Via Point (a stop along the way) 1.
