Turning on your SL350

Turning your SL350 on

Your SL350 has TWO power control switches - an ON/OFF switch on the RHS of the unit, and  "SLEEP" button on the top.

The Master ON/OFF switch (on the RHS) will be OFF when you first look at your unit.  Move it up to "ON" and your SL350 will power up.

The "Power" button (on top of the unit) is actually a "sleep/Standby" button to help save battery power. It is basically your 'quick escape' on/off switch ie it's quick & easy to use while your GPS is sitting in its cradle - you'll mainly use it when  you want to stop your MP3 music or navigation instructions.

Turning your SL350 OFF

When you're out of the car or not using your GPS (ie it's in a case or handbag or the glovebox), we recommend you always turn it off using the Master Switch on the side.

Troubleshooting -  Where's my GPS screen gone?

I turned my SL350 on and all I can see on the screen is

SD UPDATE PROGRAM V1.0, 2007.
Please insert SD Card.SDCard inserted.Detecting Update Files, wait ...

When turning your SL350 ON, if you manage to touch both switches almost simultaneously (or very quickly double-click the top switch) you may get this blue screen - and the unit freezes, instead of opening with the Logic Gear logo and Main Screen.

It's because you've just done the equivalent of the CNTL-ALT-DEL manouver on a PC - and your GPS doesn't like it much.

To fix it

  • turn the power OFF at the Master switch on the side of your SL350
  • make sure your SD card is seated properly in the slot
  • turn it on again

The Logic Gear Navigation logo and Main Screen will immediately come up - and you're back in business.
